I am a qualified Humanistic Integrative counsellor, this means I use a range of methodologies to be able to tailor a therapeutic approach to best suit your needs. I will not give you advice nor will I tell you what to do but instead I will work with you to explore your feelings and understand your behaviours, empowering you to decide what changes you would like to make to reach your goals.
I predominantly integrate the following; Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. For those who are not familiar with these modalities, in brief, Person-Centred as the name suggests puts the client at the centre of the therapy, the client is the expert on themselves, Gestalt looks at the client as a whole and considers them as part of their whole environment, the client is influenced, not separate from everything around them and Transactional Analysis looks at how a person interacts with others and considers what from a person’s past have influenced this behaviour.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I practise in line with the BACP Ethical Framework giving you confidence that my practice must conform to the high standards set by the BACP. You can view a copy of these standards here.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I have worked in the pressurised world of Information Technology and I appreciate the stresses and demands that can be part of everyday life. I have also experienced first-hand the benefits that counselling can bring during times of vulnerability.
