I am a Humanistic Integrative counsellor. Please don’t be put off by the title, it simply means that I use a range of ways of working to be able to tailor my approach to best suit your needs. I will not give you advice nor will I tell you what to do but instead I will work with you to explore your feelings and understand your behaviours, empowering you to decide what changes you would like to make to reach your goals.
I may also use Creative Therapy if you feel this is something you would like to try. It can be very hard to talk about our feelings and it is sometimes easier to use pens and paper to express ourselves without words. This is not about being an artist or being able to draw. I may also use objects or postcards if this is easier for you. But I will only ever use these tools if you agree and I will never ask you to do anything that you feel uncomfortable with.
I currently work with Macmillan Support providing counselling for cancer patients and their relatives.
I have previously worked with St. Catherine’s Hospice in Crawley working with terminally ill patients and recently bereaved relatives.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I practise in line with the BACP Ethical Framework giving you confidence that my practice must conform to the high standards set by the BACP. You can view a copy of these standards here.
Prior to becoming a counsellor, I have worked in the pressurised world of Information Technology and I appreciate the stresses and demands that can be part of everyday life. I have also experienced first-hand the benefits that counselling can bring during times of uncertainty.
